Each parcel is represented by a polygon. The data are derived from multiple sources including tax linens (1853 to 1996) and more recently property deeds and subdivision plats. The parcel data are a reasonable representation of property boundaries; however, large positional errors do exist in some areas. The data are adequate as a locational reference for tax assessment purposes and for general parcel mapping and geographic analysis of areas larger than a single subdivision. The data should not be used as a substitute for surveys and deeds in determing the precise location of the boundaries of individual parcels.
